sneer all you want about how The Runaways were feminism “commodified” — but fuck you. it’s easy to write them off now because of how much has happened since them, but remember that all of that was since them. i’m not saying that they were revolutionaries — or that other women did not contribute in a more significant way to the furthering of gender equality — but it wasn’t (still isn’t?) an easy thing to be a chick on stage with a guitar. and i’m into it.
