Got a girl crush on: Vena Cava

If I could choose to hang out with any designers, my pick would probably be the girls of Vena Cava Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock. Everything I’ve ever read or seen about them has led me to believe that they are fun, sassy girls who don’t take things too seriously. They also run a playful inspiration blog called VIVA VENA CAVA with the excellent tag line “Blah Blah Blee Bla”.

Drawing inspiration from the South African Ndelbe tribe*, Vena Cava’s Spring 2010 collection features a more bridled playfulness with light acid wash fabrics, bright bursts of orange, yellow and red accents, and unique prints. Check out my favorite looks in the photoset.

*Random thought: Does anyone else remember that line from Mean Girls when the Mom gets mad about Lindsay Lohan throwing a house party and says “This is the fertility vase of the Ndebele tribe…doesn’t that mean anything to you?” Oh, you don’t? Yeah, me neither…
