In the same class as Nicki Minaj, Lady Sovereign, and Santigold–gotta love you some tongue-in-cheek lady rap to kick off the summer

Kreayshawn is a 21 year-old female rapper and director hailing from Oakland, California. Characterized by the “Wavy” and “Based” sounds/attitudes, Kreayshawn and her group, White Girl Mob, have the kind of malice that most female rappers don’t even want to come in contact with. Her Facebook bio seems to agree:

Young Kreayshawn came up in the Bay. Inspired by art and snatching bitches. You can’t fathom what I’m doing. I’m out in L.A now. Gettin’ a tan and putting my Trap hand down for once.

Her latest single, “Gucci Gucci”, is the epitome of infectiousness. With the hook stating, “Gucci Gucci, Louis Louis, Fendi Fendi, Prada/ Basic bitches wear that shit so I don’t even bother,” Kreayshawn takes a refreshing approach to hip-hop: it’s about her, not about what she wears or buys. She may not be the most witty or fundamentally sound rapper, but goddamn, her style and sounds are—for the lack of a better term—the shit.
